The article ‘’the” in ‘The Lady of Substance’ is a definite one. ‘Woman’ does not connote the totality of who you are in God but Lady does. It is a polite way of addressing women in the contemporary world, especially in Britain where it connotes honour. A lady is a high ranking woman, not an ordinary woman. Women do not want to be called women but ladies because it has a uniqueness attached to it. The substance looked at here is not physical but tangible and we can handle and come into it. The substance of something is what it is made of. Our substance is what we are made of. This is what will determine who we are. You are a lady and your substance is God. If you are born-again your substance is God Himself.
Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with” But he said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?” And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”
What we are talking about is not material for our life doesn’t consist in the abundance of things we have. Only in Christ does our life consist.
And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
If our life is taken over by what we do not have then we are wrong. It is He that is in you that determines who you are and He is the substance.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
When we got born again, we have what makes God to be God in us potentially although that is not all. It is just the beginning. So many of us do not want to leave the beginning. If you are born-again, what have you got to show? Most of the times we get stuck, which is not supposed to be. The whole world is expecting you to bring out what is in you because they must drink of what you have. Out of your belly shall flow…
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
We are to grow up to Him in all things. When we are growing up to Him, it is no in obscurity. It will be seen.
Most women keep money from their husband, even believers. If a man breaks through, it is seen on the woman first. This should be with us. The deposit of our Father should show more in us than even the male. People do not have to use a microscope to find out if you are the lady of God. When we enter a congregation, at least somebody should know we are different. What is in you must show forth.
2 Corinthians 10:4.
For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.
A lady without her spiritual senses will give anything to get a man.
The words of King Lemuel. An oracle that his mother taught him:
His mother taught him the prophecy. What shall be written of us? Who is a virtuous woman? The key of the virtuous woman is the fear of the Lord. Whatever she has is a download of what she has in her What made her special? It was wisdom of the Lord because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, but with what is proper for women who profess godliness–with good works.
The pride or glory of the woman shouldn’t be in the things we have. Just like men are to lift up holy hands, so the women should not lift up earrings, clothing, and the likes.
2 Corinthians 2:14, 16.
But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.
Whatever we are will smell out. This substance we carry will smell out if we are carrying it really. We are a sweet savor. If what is in you is not nice, it will come out, no pretext. Which smell are you bringing out? Let us develop His character as we go around. We are to reflect His true nature in all we do.
2 Kings 4:8-10; 8:1-4
How did the woman know? What Elisha has smelled out, the woman was sensitive. The woman just perceived. What she believed in provoked a blessing. She did not have an ulterior motive. She wasn’t agitated about not having a son again.
