- Is it wrong or right for a believer to work in a hotel or brewery? If yes, then why can’t they open a hotel where alcohol is sold?
It is not wrong for a believer to own a hotel but you don’t have to necessarily sell alcohol. Owning a hotel must not be subscribed to according to the standard of the world. We must allow the Spirit to deal with the lust in our souls. We can own a hotel and set a standard according to God’s righteousness. Setting this standard in our hotel should turn men unto righteousness and not to alcohol. If we love righteousness, there are certain places we would not be comfortable working. Most of the time, we take decisions in our blindness, often time it not the blindness that is the problem but the fact that we are not willing to be led out of our blindness and we argue in it.
1 Corinthians 6:12, ‘All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.’
1 Corinthians 10:23, ‘All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.’
- 1 Corinthians 2:1, ‘And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God.
How do we explain this scripture in view of signs, miracle and wonders according to this scriptural verse?
Romans 1: 16, ‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.’
What can change us from being natural to spiritual is power. The gospel is the power of God for making Man to forgive; the power that turns man from Satan to God. The challenge we have is that we are Gentiles. Demonstration of the Spirit is not the same as miracles of raising the dead and healing the sick. The power demonstrated by Paul in the Gospel is embodying the gospel of God, not charisma or intellectual eloquence; living against the tides of the world. The power therein is only made available to believers, to live by the revealed righteousness, not for unbelievers though they can be healed of their sickness. A pastor can work miracles and still beat his wife daily; a person can be healed of sickness and is unforgiving.
- My question is about this cashless policy that is going on now little by little. Is it good for a child of God to get involved in this crypto currency (TBC)? I really want to be conscious of the things I do, so that one will not miss the way (Jesus Christ).
Cashless policy is different from crypto currency. Cashless policy is the way a government reduces the movement of raw cash in the country. It is a means of making transaction easy around the world. It is a speculative invention that shouldn’t be taken as an investment because of its fluctuating nature and not a business meant for petty people. There is no earthly system created by man that can ever be safe or stable but if you must venture into any kind of business be well educated about it. Once you have the will to be rich, you will pierce your soul with many sorrows. The force that moves money here on earth is the god called Mammon. Mammon is a secret that when you fall for it after seeing it ravages the soul by its love which ultimately draws the soul away from God. We should know in our hearts that the world is made up of uncertainty. 1 Timothy 6: 18 -19.Laying up in store for your self is laying a good foundation of the gospel in us that can transcend this present world.
- Please, how do you study your bible? Is it a gift that always makes you know every scripture or is there a pattern which you do use in studying?
When you see your life as entrenched in the scripture, not because you want to preach to others, but to know everything God is saying about life, you will read prayerfully. Sometimes, you read and cry; laugh and frown. It is important to study in the days of your youth when the evil day has not come because most of the scriptures people know today were learnt when they were younger. They had the interest, the gift and discipline, and the Holy Spirit brings understanding. We must seek to know the scriptures and the power of God by consciously creating time to study the Bible. There is a place of study and there’s the place of God bringing understanding of what you have read to you. We must read with the mindset to know so that we can change and live. Study is an analytical and tasking work. It is not a work easy for a beginner but can begin with the help of those who are ahead of you. We must be studious and take time to interact with the information we have received. The end point of reading and studying is understanding. We must also engage in the task of cramming a times to help the brain in the right shape against aging.
- A sister got pregnant and the Church decided to discipline her since she was not married. When the elders interviewed her, she told them that she had been in the Church for several years and no one is coming for her and approaching menopause. After reading some Christian medical journals on the issues, she did artificial insemination and showed the medical evidence from a reputable hospital that backed her up. She got pregnant without committing fornication or adultery. Could this be a sin? Can we have Scriptural bases for our position?
Artificial insemination in itself is not wrong and it is important we disabuse our minds from certain religious ideologies. Not everything about Science and Technology is bad or tend to sin. What happened to Mary, the mother of Jesus in the scriptures is a form of insemination, a spiritual one. More so, according to Romans 1, only acts that are against natural use that attract God’s wrath; once it has to do with sperm and egg and nothing against how God allows it to be by nature, it is not a sin. What the sister should have done includes talking to friends, that is if she is in a setting where the pastors are religious, at least she should be able to confide in someone. Also, what could be wrong with that act is what informs her taking the action. Yes, she has read books and well informed technologically, but her motive was that of fear that she is reaching menopause and there is no hope she would get married. our lives are more than getting married or giving birth; whatever is it we face on earth is not enough to make invalid the knowledge of God that we are called into Life; so if we have something or not, once we are progressing in Light, we are okay, either God gives, permits us to do insemination or not. It is also important to know we are meant to raise children, either from our loins or not, biologically or spiritually (though adoption these days is very expensive). After all, we as believers are God’s adopted children. We cannot handle this present world and its different sides by ourselves, only the knowledge of Eternal Life can handle it. May our hearts continually be opened to truth so we will not dwell in bondage of any sort. Amen!
